Air-to-air or air-to-water?

Is an air-to-air heat pump the same as reversible air conditioning?
The principle is the same: reversible air conditioning works as an air-to-air heat pump. For main heating, we choose models and sizing designed for heating in cold weather.
Can an air-to-air heat pump heat the whole house?
Yes, with several indoor units connected to one or more outdoor units (multi-split), or with a ducted system that distributes air through ducts. The choice depends on the layout and insulation of the home.
Does an air-to-air heat pump produce hot water?
No, it only heats the air. For domestic hot water, it can be combined with a heat pump water heater, for example.
What work is involved?
Fitting an outdoor unit, the indoor units and the refrigerant pipes between them. There is no work on a water circuit, which makes installation simpler than an air-to-water heat pump.
